I can hardly believe that it is already 2016!
Of Crafting, Crochet, and Time Well Spent
I was lucky enough to have been on vacation for a little over a week and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Although I did not spend as much time on my writing as I had planned, I did do an awful lot of crafting and crochet which I think did me a world of good. I can’t remember when last I took the time to simply do quilling for a whole day without having to look at the time or when I have done so much crocheting at once. The crocheting included finishing The TARDIS Bag! (Photos to follow.)
I also finished a cloth for my brother in-law’s grandmother and tried my hand at Amigurumi for the first time to create a small Baymax for a friend’s baby.
I’m now busy with two shawls and a throw, but I am taking my time with those as they do not have a specific deadline. I’m planning on leaving the one shawl at work for a lunchtime project though – once you get the hang of it, crochet really is very therapeutic and calming. And a lot easier to carry around than quilling stuff… (At the moment I am listening to the BBC The Lord of the Rings radio drama while working on the different projects.)
But Enough With the Crafting!
This week is also the start of two of the short courses I am doing this year, so I’d better get back into my study and writing routine!
New Flash Fiction
I did write some flash fiction this vacation. A bunch of the Johannesburg NaNoWriMo writers are doing an anthology of flash fiction and there has been quite a few challenges. I have not written a story for each of the challenges, but here are those which I have written so far:
Be sure to check out the other stories as well!
From this week onward I will also be back on my post on Saturdays for the Cracked Flash Fiction competition. And my story “Dust Red As Blood” won!
Other than that I am back editing the NaNo novel and working on some short stories.
